The Nissan Will Be Winterised Tomorrow...

Featured Replies

This evening I picked up 4x Yokohama W.Drive V905 tyres for £130, which were only used by the previous owner for the winter of 2014 and then put in his garage (date stamp is 23rd week of 2014).

They seem to have only had a maximum of 1,000 miles travel and should see us through the worst that Scotland's weather can throw.

Although, I know that as soon as we drive away from the garage tomorrow after having them fitted, the temperatures will sky rocket just to spite me!

When you are spending £200 on winter tyres that isn't a positive thought!!

I hate snow but with M&S tyres I at least want a dusting to make them work for their money.

Well the Primera is now running on Yokohama W.Drive V905 winter tyres all round!

And when I said that the summer tyres were "a bit worn", it turns out that I didn't know the full extent of the wear on those tyres. From a brief inspection they all seemed to have good treads and the rubber wasn't that bad, but when we went to pick the car up I asked for the old tyres back, thinking I could sell them on, to get the response "you can have them if you want, but they are all perished!".

I had a look to make sure he wasn't lying and yep, all four tyres, despite outward appearances had bald patches, major cracking between the treads and scuffing on the inner edges.

The car was previously a taxi and my suspicion is that further to the MOT (passed first time with no advisories), which would have been carried out with good tyres, four old ones that were lying at the back of the garage were thrown on prior to the sale! I would bet money on it as no honest MOT tester would pass a car with tyres in that state.

just as well you bought winter tyres you would have never seen how bad the summer ones where fate saved you there bud

True!

I will continue through winter as I normally do.

Gentle throttle, but more clutch, and if I get truly stumped I will use the snow socks. I cant afford the tyres lol

Must admit though, thats not a bad deal, four for £130

Lucky where I am , it rarely snows .
