Sound Of Running Water?!?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I popped out this evening to my local shop, and on the return journey, I started the car and out of no where, I could here what seemed to be the sound of water pouring out from somewhere. I quickly jumped out of the car and started walking around it trying to locate the sound, and then the sound just stopped.

I understand that sounds are hard to describe, as everyone will describe them differently, but the most accurate description I can give is that it sounded like someone was tipping a bottle of water out onto the pavement and it was very noticeable.

I should add that at the time, I had no heating on, the car was stationary, the car had just started from cold and the sound was much more noticeable from the rear of the car

Any ideas on what this could be?

Thanks!

Sometimes u hear water moving about in the expansion tank, have a look at ur water level and u will get ur answer pal

I sometimes hear it upon starting the engine up, coming from the heater matrix area - could be coolant being passed through that?

So your saying I should check my coolant levels? :)

Mines filled just over the full mark and as you can see it flows into the expansion tank after the engines turn off. What your hearing maybe that.

Oh I see what you mean, that makes sense I shall have to check tomorrow and try and replicate the sane scenario and see what happens, it was really loud though I thought something was seriously wrong aha :)

My heater matrix needs bleeding & it makes that noise for a good 5-10 seconds after switching off
