Paint Mark

Featured Replies

Hi all,

this may be a repetitve topic so I do apologise in advance, but I am determined to find out what this is.

I have a mark on the bonnet of the car, which looks like a water mark under the paint.

I have tired to wash/buff the mark but no advancement, I have tried to t-cut it and no improvement.

The gloss and shine on top isn't damaged and it seems to be under the gloss?

Does anyone have any ideas?

I have also attached a cleared picutre this time.

If you bought the car second-hand it could have had a small repair on the bonnet.

It does look clearer now - to me it's shaped like a little elephant with a long trunk facing left !

Hopefully there'll be a paint expert on the forum to help you more

As stated by Diesel Pig - i'm still leaning towards a iffy repair / touch up as we discussed Daniel

The car has only one owner which is myself the mark appeared only this weekend, it hasnt been there for the last 20 months.

Hopefully there will be Mark!

It may still have had a repair prior to you receiving the car.

If its under the top coat and base colour it needs to be rubbed down to find the cause.

Is there any damage evident from underneath the bonnet - corresponding to where the mark is ?

I'm thinking maybe heat or battery acid ?

Diesel Pig & I are thinking the same thing Daniel - as previously discussed

Hi Both,

Someone had mention that today to me which i will have a look at any damage underneath the bonnet.

Desiel pig may be right, would that mean that the manufactor is a fault.

it doesnt have anything to do with the touch up ive had due to minor effect area beening near the fog lights

I find it odd that it has only just appeared - & as you state you've had the car 20 months

Thats why i would of agreed if the affected area was touched up, but it wasnt affected. could this be a manufactoring problem?

and if i was to call someone to repair this minor damage any idea of costs?

Take it back to Ford first for their opinion as your car is under warranty
