Fiesta Mk V Speedo/mileage Reset ?

Hello,

I'm having a few issues with my old 2001 Fiesta.

The starter motor has recently gone and every since it's replacement I've been having a few odd issues.

First issue was that my speedo completely stopped working, my father messed around with the wires and fuses and somehow got it working again.

Today I was driving along and the speedo just completely dropped to 0, then to 10, then 0, (multiple times, speed varying) then back up to my usual speed (weird huh?)

The other issue has happened since the new starter motor too. Every time I turn over the engine it resets my mileage clock for my fuel (not the overall mileage of the car, the other one which can track your mileage over a certain period, can't think of the technical term)

So i'm wondering what are these issues and are they easily fixable ?

    Try reseating the vehicle speed sensor connector (B11).

    If the fault is still intermittent replace the speed sensor.

    Diagram is showing the rear of the engine compartment !
