houdini
Hi all, I have a 03 fusion 3 and when I put headlights on it shows blue full beam on the dash display.if I pull the right hand column lever as stated in manual to toggle between h\light and full beam I can hear a whirring with a thump thump thump sound coming from the passenger side glovebox bonnet area but light stays showing blue full beam. My lenses need polishing as they are very hazy and dull, the full beam does not seem to bother oncoming drivers but to me they look stronger than normal headlight beams. I live in the York dales and its very dark at the moment and all I can do is have full beam then when I need to light up the road ahead is put my front fog lights on,but with winding roads and having to take my right hand off the wheel to push switch in \out is a bit hairy. I think the person who owned it before me may have done something to keep it onfull beam instead ofspending £20 to get some polishing compound for the lenses. All thoughs welcomed

Sergeantcookie
All as you need to polish your headlights is some polishing compound, wet and dry sand paper and a buffer to go on your drill. Just over a tenner will fix them. I did mine the other week. Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
houdini
But I cannot polish them until I know what the problem is with the full beam or I will end up blinding everyone else
fusionfan2
I have no answers other than it might be time to get the services of an auto-electrician. Naively, could it be a fuse issue?
houdini
All sorted, lost my temper when people kept giving me a little flash to let me know I got full beam on, I had dipped them right down on the dial and nothing else I could do so when one more person did it to me I flipped and started to slap the lever with the palm of my hand and beam went off. Ford controls are crap, every other car I've owned lights are done with a light finger flick. P's this is my first ford and will be my last only good thing about it is if I need spare parts all I will have to do is walk along a roadside and will duly come across the part I need
MihkelJ
If you can't operate the lights normally, it indicates that there's a problem (most likely with the stork) that needs to be fixed. And that can happen on any car. The Fusion also needs only a "light finger flick" to engage the full beams. No need to dismiss a car on one small issue.

houdini
No the stalk was already broken, anyway take what I say lightly as I have victor meldrew syndrome and have one way shouting arguments with inanimate objects everyday, today it was with the gravel in my garden oh and the ridiculously stupid light fittings that do not take standard bayonet or Edison screw fittings. Anyway, people look at me like ime some sort of nutter but I do not care. NO I DON'T
