Misfire On A 2004 Ka

Featured Replies

Did you swap the injector over to cylinder one and see if the misfire then occurs in cylinder 1?

When a misfire occurs, engine speed will fluctuate. If the engine speed fluctuates enough to cause the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor signal to vary, the Engine Control Module (ECM) can determine that a misfire is occurring.

Might be the CPS or a wire near the CPS causing an EMF leak!

If fuel is missing from any one specific engine cylinder, it will misfire.

fuel system problems could include some of the following:

  1. BAD fuel injectors.
  2. Broken fuel injector connector (this is a very, very common problem).
  3. Electrical short in the fuel injector wires that are keeping the fuel injector pulse signal from reaching the fuel injector.
    1. This is usually the result of human error and after a major mechanical repair where the wiring harness was damaged.
  4. BAD fuel injection computer not pulsing the fuel injector (this is a very rare condition, but it happens).
  5. BAD fuel pump.

If you've a misfire then you need to stop driving it. The unburnt fuel will eventually destroy your catalytic convertor. Just a warning

It probably is the catalytic converter causing the issue but i think he has provided a few misnomers so its getting harder to diagnose the issue

220psi? hmmm not sure if thats right!

I doubt the cat would cause a misfire on a single cyclinder for this long without causing the others to follow.. but it won't be healthy

Can't comment on the compression to be honest. Either way, whatever it may be all the cylinders are reading the same unless there's a fault with the compression tester

Has he actually checked the plug leads with a meter or changed them?. (Or have I skimmed past that?)

True about the catalytic converter but im just assuming that maybe he is talking out of his !Removed! and hasnt really checked anything and he is just hearing things!

Who knows what he has done it all seems very strange - nothing correlates - Maybe he is having us on as someone has just posted an exactly identical post under another name!

Taking the Jimmy Riddle for some reason?

Besides he hasnt had the courtesy to reply so I'm out!

Ive compared the IPs. They're both different, and different ISP's

On tracking the IPs One is in Aberdeen & the other Liverpool

Also, One of them uses Inches, The other just said a deep puddle. Also, One has brilliant grammar whilst the other is shocking. I doubt its the same person :)

Thanks Ginge my bad!

I have changed the plug leads yes.

Ginger flame, it isn't a constant misfire. It's only slightly when you need extra power like when going up hill

I have changed all injectors from a donor car, I am not 100% sure what cylinder is misfiring. It was number 2 at first but since I changed all the basic parts (coil pack, plugs etc) the fault code hasn't come up again.

In the end I took it to an independent Ford specialist and he did a scope test on it which shown that the coil pack was at fault. So he fitted an "uprated" NGK coil pack and it's now running as sweet as a nut.

Thanks to those who genuinely tried to help me, just a shame that there seems to be some smart ar**s on here.

Anyway happy days as I now have my car back again! 😊

Thanks I did try and help but after being called a smart !Removed! not sure wether I will bother anymore!
