Fiesta Zetec S, Footlwell Light Wiring/mod

Featured Replies

Hi I know this has been discussed many times but I need it clearing up.

From what I've read some fiestas have the footwell bulb holders and wiring in place where as some just have plastic covers where the bulb should be and need wiring. I think mine may have the wiring in place already however I don't know exactly what to look for. Would someone with the wiring in place send a photo so I know what it looks like. If the wiring is already in place is it simply a case of screwin a bulb in and it will work?

I'm looking to get a red light to illuminate the entire footwell not just one that shines like a spotlight straight down like I've seen from some. Any help is much appreciated!

If the wiring is there, there should be a bulb holder which iirc takes a 501 capless bulb which is a push fit & it should work

Just get your head down in the footwells & look up - if it's fitted the bulbholder is right there

Yea I've done that and from what I can tell the bulbholder is there but I've never looked down at a footwell before so not 100% sure that is a bulbholder I'm looking at. I'll upload a photo tomorrow. If it is though just buy a bulb and push it in?

Yes

Easy thing to do is whip the bulb out of the boot light or one of the reg plate lights to give it a try, you don't need to buy anything then.

Ok thanks, I dont suppose anyone knows about using these strip led lights in the footwell? Where would they plug in?

If you have the wiring then you can plug into the bulbholder, or spliced into the loom.

What exactly is that in the photo the link isn't working for me?

Ive found some strip led's but they dont have a plug you need to cut into the wiring and connect the wiring in the car to the wiring from the led's, sounds simple enough to most people but knowing me I'd probably mess it up. Ideally just want some strip led's that have a plug that will go straight into the bulbholder if anyone knows of any?

Sory about that, the site sells 1000s of parts.

Quite simple you wire your leds into the black part and plug the white part into the existing bulb holder.

Chinese site.

Or just use standard red bulbs

I did look at using red bulbs but from what I read they just directed a focussed light down at the floor and I wanted it to fill the footwell with light hence the strip leds. What have you done in yours cause that looks good. Just put the one red bulb in?

That's right, just 1 red bulb. It's not LED, just a bog standard filiment bulb from eBay for a few quid. As you can see you get good light spread.
