Super Chips Stage 2 Thread

Featured Replies

I have posted some information in a few other threads regarding a stage 2 re map for the 1.0 eco boost and thought that I should start a new thread to keep those that are interested updated on how this is progressing.

This came about as I read a post on this forum somewhere that SC may have been working on a stage 2 map so I sent them an email a good few weeks ago.

I got a reply from a chap called Graeme he said that they had looked at it as an option but they would need a car with a full exhaust and uprated inter cooler so that the re map would produce a decent power and be reliable.

I have since bought a twin pass inter cooler thanks to help from Paramanic up until that point I was going to make my own and probably spent a fortune, so thanks for that.

I will be fitting the larger inter cooler to my car very soon but first I want to add some sensors so that I can get an idea of what is going on in my engine bay.

I have bought a single gauge made by PLX and will connect up the following to it

2 x Air temp sensors. One will be placed on the outlet from the turbo to the inter cooler and the other will be placed on the outlet from the inter cooler. The plan is to see what the standard Ford inter cooler is doing and then I can then see how much better the up rated cooler is.

1 x Boost sensor for err measuring boost pressure at the inlet manifold into the engine after the inter cooler.

1 x Oil temp sensor. Oil is the life blood of any engine if it gets too hot it don't work so well.

When going for more power it important to remember that the extra combustion produces more heat which has to be dissipated into the coolant circuit and also into the engine oil which is why I want to keep tabs on the oil temp and if need be fit a larger oil cooler.

I had a chat to Super Chips a few days ago regarding the stage 2 map again and I will be lending my car to them for 3 - 4 days to allow them to carry out the development work. I am now waiting to hear back from my contact regarding a date although I have been told its going to be next year as they are quite busy at the moment.

For reference the two links below are the parts I will be fitting to my car for the stage 2 re map.

Inter cooler (for my ref internal volume is 3.5 litres)

I am going for a motor sport cat as I don't want the grief of sodding about with putting one on and then off come MOT time.

The gauge I mentioned above can be found here http://www.plxdevices.com/Wideband-O2-Air-Fuel-Ratio-TouchScreen-Multi-Gauge-p/897346002368.htm.

I liked it as it was small and you can connect 16 sensors up to a single display which means less clutter around my dash.
