Having a few niggles with my own at the minute. have you noticed the car holding back at all when accelerating?

Do the revs drop quite a bit when you engage the clutch? Or does it die completely?

I remember cleaning the throttle body on my MK2 1.6 tivct and that improves things a lot = smoother idle and acceleration. It's worth a shot, quite easy to do.

My is the same, will try to change the fuel fillter and clean the throtle body.

MK2/MK2.5 and MK3/MK3.5 petrol version do not have a fuel filter. There is only a strainer (with relative large mesh) at the intake side of the fuel pump inside the fuel tank. This strainer however is part of the puel pump assembly and is not considered to be a serviceable part.

Cutting out and intermittent loss of power are common problems on a Focus MK3 1.6 TI-VCT. Ford released several software updates to improve/fix this.

Personally I would update the PCM software first to the latest version. In most cases this will solve the problem. If the problem persists it is a good idea to perform proper diagnostics using a Ford specific diagnostic system. Even if there are no stored DTC codes monitoring the live data can help to determine the problem.
