2013 Pdc Module Location

Featured Replies

Hi all

Does anybody know the location of the factory fitted reverse sensor module on a 2013 fiesta? All the info I can find refers to the module being in the o/s boot but it is not there as this is the system that comes up on a display on the dash and bleeps come through stereo speakers rather than the buzzer located above rear seats. I have traced the wires along the o/s sills but then they just disappear up into the dash? The car is still under Fords warranty but they will not look at it as the rear bumper was replaced after a slight bump ( although the sensors have worked for 18 months after this ) the system is totally dead when putting into reverse no bleeps or display on dash, thanks in advance for any help

Regards

Alan

It is in the boot, and on o/s

I take that back, 2013 onwards the sensors are controlled by the body control module

Behind the glove box low down , you can see it if you look under the glovebox, there should be a piece of trim hiding it

Hi Iantt

Thanks for your reply but the module is not in the boot on this car, I have stripped all trim from both sides of the boot whilst looking for it, the wires from the sensors come through a grommet on the right hand boot floor, they then are ran through clips up the right hand side and then clipped under the parcel shelf support then down under the plastic trims on the sills to the front of the car, there is then a plastic cover held on by 1 screw and some plastic clips by the side of the bonnet release the cables come out from under the sill covers and then run behind this cover up behind the dash where they then can't be seen. This is the factory fit system that has a display in the dash and bleeps come through the stereo, if it had been fitted at the dealers the module would of been in the boot and it would of had a cable running from it to a buzzer fitted in the headlining above the rear seats, mine has none of this?

Thanks

Thanks Iantt

Will have a look there in the morning, I did flip the glovebox down but didn't move any trim so missed it, thanks again

I woukd check for any connectors loose on the body control module, cant see why your dealer wont look at it , doesnt sound like anything to do with sensors, I take it the multiplug under the o/s of rear bumper is connected ok?

Yes the connection under the bumper is fine, will find the module and check its connections in the morning, very disappointed with the ford dealer it went in for a service and a software update for the powershift box and the pdc to be looked at but they said they stopped looking for the fault as soon as they saw that it had had the bumper replaced saying that voided the warranty on the pdc.

Cheers

Thats not right, I would complian about that. Or try another dealer.

How can having bumper replaced void warranty. Unless it evedent the wiring or sensors have been physically damaged.

I would ring ford customer services

Are the sensors linked to the reversing lights ? & if so do the reversing lights work ?

Theres no direct link , but the reverse signal goes in to body control module so that will activate the sensors, think pin checks at body control module is in order, that link wire is spliced in to the reveree feed.

Checked under glove box after removing trim, couldn't tell which module or connections would be for pdc but checked everything that was there and all seemed to be clicked tightly in place, re-checked rear connection under o/s bumper and that reverse lights work. I think it will have to be another trip to the dealers for an explanation of how having the rear bumper being replaced ( by them ) voids the pdc warranty? Thanks for the help, will post when resolved

Im sure even with the reverse sensor multiplug disconnected it should come up on dash when engaging reverse. Will see what I can find out.

Has your car just got rears or fronts as well?

Right then, now found out that even with sensors completly disconnected at multiplug in rear bumper, the display still shows up with a warning x , so regarldless of possible sensor damage/wiring. It should still work as such. So tell your dealer that.

So im guessing wiring fault near the body control module, or a faulty module.

Thanks Iantt

The car only has rear sensors, there are no warning bleeps or anything on the display when put into reverse, will argue it out with the dealer, thanks for the info regarding the display working even if sensors disconnected

Cheers

Wires

Thats ok, the fiesta I just tried only had rears.
