Should Ambient Dashboard Lights Be Working In My Fiesta Zetec 2009?

Featured Replies

Hi,

The horizontal ambient strip light across the dashboard in front of the passenger seat, and overhead ambient light in the little pocket in front of the gear stick in my Ford Fiesta 2009 1.25 Petrol Zetec are present but not working (at night when headlights are on). Removing the trim around the heater control switches which includes the little pocket reveals no loom/plug available for attaching to the pocket light socket. I suspect the same for the strip light.

Can anyone tell me if this model, VRN SL09BUA, should have these ambient lights working or if they were fitted but not plugged in? I don't want to waist time removing trim to discover the vehicle simply had the lights fitted but not wired.

Thanks,

Gallantfive.

According to Ford Etis it doesn't look like it but I could be wrong

You can tell if there is a light strip fitted to the glove box. Its a clear plastic strip just above the glove box in the lip.

Russ, Thanks for your reply.

Can you tell me what the two ambient lights (horizontal strip above glove box and dash/coin pocket overhead light) would be called if they were listed in Ford Etis?

Thing is, I have a Fiesta Zetec 2010 1.4 Tdci in which both work, and a Fiesta 1.25 Petrol Zetec 2009 in which they don't, but looking at both specs in Etis I cannot spot any difference applicable to these ambient lights.

Although the lights are present in the 2009 model neither are 'plugged in' and there is no sign of any looms/plugs. It seems odd that the lights would be fitted with no intention for them to work.

Thanks, Gallantfive.
