Looking For Owners Of Fiesta Mk6 With A 1.6 16V Petrol (Fuel Consumption Question)

Featured Replies

I've had the car for a while now but never had the chance to get a proper measurement on how much fuel it uses - but i finally did it yesterday. I managed to keep a steady 70 mph the entire trip and got 37 mpg (i was by myself but had loaded the car with a few hundred pounds of luggage).

I have also added an LPG system on the car, which doesn't help with fuel consumption (though it makes up with its low price). In heavy traffic around the city i get as little as 30 mpg (though i have to admit - i don't have the lightest of feet) and roughly the same on motorways (with 4 people and load of luggage).

All i wanted to ask, fellow Fiesta owners, is - is that a good number? It seems a bit much and wondered if there's something wrong with the car or it's just a thirsty engine.

I know it's not directly comparable, but I used to have a mk6 1.25 and I got around 40 mpg out of that. Also, various internet spec/fact sites reckon 43 mpg (at best) for your car so I wouldn't worry.

1.6 Mk7 here. I get between 30-34 mpg around town. When I drove down south on holiday and back, I managed to get 48 mpg.

Figures calculated from recording mileage and filling up; my trip computer always reads 10% over...

I've got a mk7 Fiesta 1.6 and according to the 'computer' or whatever you call it I'm getting 41.1 - I can tell you for a fact that's a lie. I'm a pretty 'fast' driver and I'm always on the motorway at least 6 days a week clocking upwards of 250-300 miles a week and I'll go though about £30 of fuel.

Though when I went down to South Wales from Manchester 180 miles I put £35 worth of fuel and it HARDLY took any fuel going down there. I've had my car looked at and Ford have said I'm averaging 37mpg which is normal and should be getting apparently. All I know is it likes to drink fuel if it isn't from Sainsburys or Shell (I know that not the question lol)

Sorry just noticed MK6 I swear my eyes have had it today!

If the mk7 gets the same stats - then i'm happy with my mk6. Thank you everyone - now i can relax that the car is running well.
