New To Fords & Fiesta's

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Just got my 2014 Zetec S Ecoboost 125 about 3 weeks ago and thought I would join the forum as this was the one coming up on all my google searches.

Loving the car so far, great wee engine, enjoying being back in a small hatchback having majorly down sized.

Car I just got rid of was a 2010 Audi A6 Le Mans 2.0 TDI.

So far debadged the rear, fitted red led's to the footwells, have a footrest ordered, should be here next week. 32gb Sandisk usb pen for tunes.

Mods to follow just to get the interior the way I want it incl lockwood sill plates, front and rear rubber mats and rubber boot liner.

Looking forward to giving the car a really good detail when the weather eventually improves.

Nice car same colour as the one I had before my ST. I now have the Red Edition. Slight difference to your Audi I would say though lol.

You could also change your light bulbs to someting brighter and whiter like Osram Nightbreakers. Gives a nicer white look and is better for driving with. Also try changing your indicator bulbs to silver ones to get rid of the orange egg yoke effect :)

Cheers, I had Osram Nightbreakers in my Leon Cupra that I had before the Audi, good bulbs, will probably upgrade them at some point. Good shout on the silver indicator bulbs too, makes the front end look a lot cleaner.

Big difference to the A6, it was a big barge of a car, very nice interior and great on the motorway, looked good but a bit dull to drive. 170 bhp but a really heavy car.

Enjoying being back in something that really handles like a go kart. Major cost savings in running costs too which was the main decision. Zero road tax, amazing!

Might look into bluefin at some point for a bit more poke, having said that the standard 125 is surprisingly quick! In the meantime just changing wee bits and bobs to make it feel a bit more mine.

My dad has an A6 lovely smooth car to be in. But its not very exciting, more limousine than anything else. But thats what he wants. The Fiesta is a fun car to drive and, though I have the 140ps, my recollection of the 125 ps is that is an amazing little engine. A light car helps as well of course but its a dream to drive :)

I like to change the little details as well to make it "mine". Will be adding red Z badges front and back when the weather improves and trying to add Ambient lighting above the glove box (though this is proving to be more difficult than I thought).

Hope you enjoy :)

Very true about the Audi, it's what I wanted after the Leon which I loved (1.8T, custom cat back exhaust, induction kit and stage one remap and about 210bhp), was trying to get something more refined and sensible, but just prefer smaller hot hatches overall. Also paying for tyres on 19's is not a nice experience.

I am enjoying so far, the weight is definitely a huge factor in the feel of a car.

I usually find all mods end up being harder that you think lol :)

Tell me more about this footrest, can it be used with manual (on cruise) as well as auto?

Hi Laurie, The footrest I ordered was just one from ebay - meant for a Range Rover Evoque, but I liked the look of it.

I measured the footrest / dead pedal area on my manual RHD, non crusie control Fiesta and it looks like it will fit no problem.

I emailed the company I bought it from and the dimensions are 60mm wide at the top 43mm wide at bottom, from top to bottom in the centre it is approx 155mm.

They also do one for the fiesta but I didn't like how it looked as much with the pedals that are on the 2014 Zetec S

The Fiesta specific footrest that they do is 65mm wide at the top and 50mm wide at the bottom and lengtht from top to bottom approx 225mm.

The Evoque footrest should arrive this week, so I will post some pics once its arrived and fitted.

Nice car mate, just had a wee read through.

I've done red led footwell lights so far and debadged the boot and bought a 32gb sandisc usb pen for tunes, works well.

Have fiesta rubber front and rear mats and rubber fiesta boot liner ordered. Like the look of carpet mats, but they just get totally knackered in Scottish weather.

Metal foot rest ordered

Getting a 2 port usb fast charger for the 12v socket for phone charging

Lockwood S sill plates going to be ordered soon too.

That will be the interior pretty sorted and then just need to get some better weather, get the car clayed and detailed properly.

Just bought a trolley jack and axel stands so I might get the wheels off and cleaned properly before sealing them.

The fezza is certainly a lot faster to clean than the A6 was, that took forever.

What make wind deflectors did you go for and what do you think of them. Was thinking about those and maybe a stubby ariel.

Bluefin is also appealing too :)

In regards to cleaning.. bare in mind that the fiesta will have much softer paint compared to the a3. Be careful with it so as not to cause marring/swirls

Thanks for the tip I believe the Audi A6 paint was pretty hard, with the Fiesta paint being softer than Audi's do I just need to be more delicate with clay, polishes etc - like less pressure on the pad, will all be hand applied btw.

Cheers

Brian

Maybe use fine clay instead of regular. Be more vigilant of dirt on wash media etc

Cool - I am getting a clay mitt to try out as part of an Xmas pressie, so will just be careful with it, less pressure and I always use two bucket wash method after jet washing with shampoo and rinsing first.

Footrest fitted, happy with how it looks. Think it matches the OEM pedals quite well, gives the interior a wee bit more bling.

Sill plates next.
