Fiesta 1.25 Zetec Clutch Problem

Featured Replies

hi fitted new clutch and concentric to my 2000 reg 1.25 zetec, bleed it but still wont fully disingage when i out my clutch down, cant get it in gear with engine running, made sure fluid was topped up, foot down open nipple, lock off repeat, no leaks, any ideas, cheers

Solved by carmadrob

Sounds like it still might have some air in the system. Try back bleeding the slave cylinder. You need to take the cap of the brake fluid reservoir and use something to pump the fluid back through the bleed nipple on the Slave cylinder pushing the air out of the brake fluid reservoir. I find using one of them small pump oil cans full of brake fluid useful.

It's something I've only really had to do with fords never used it on any other model of car.

hi thanks for reply, i went out and got a gunsons eezibleed system and tried that but still the same, but not all bad news lol, by accident i found my problem, when i pressed clutch to floor it would not go into gear with engine running, i put it into gear then started car and set off, drove great no problems changing gear, pulled up and put in neutral then tried gears again but no joy, then because i had a bit of oil on my boot soul it slid when i tried to get a gear, it went in no probs, so if i plant pedal to floor no gears, if i let pedal up about a inch it goes into every gear, bitting point halfway, i then looked under clutch pedal to find what looks like a black plastic moulding broken, im guessing there should be a travel stop bolt, so i made one and jobs a good one, to be honest if it works then im happy, cheers

I know the mk6 had a recall due to faulty clutch pedal connections.. Your car maybe had the same!

cheers i looked into pedal recall/problems but that seems to be the clip that hold rod, mine is still attached, still convinced there should be a travel stop bolt attached to broken plastic, still my modification seems to be holding up lol

On that topic.. whilst replacing my resistor pack I found a cable tie holding the clutch pedal bits together! So either somebody couldn't be bothered taking it to Ford, or Ford couldn't be bothered using the proper recall parts

i actually have a son who works for ford sandicliffe in the office, i asked him to ask about problems but the techs seem to only know about modern fords and mazdas, the storys that he tells me what goes on in the workshop is a laugh, its all gloves and diagnostics not like old school like holding a screwdriver to your ear lol

You cant beat gloves and a tool (diagnostic) in your hand.
