lukasc
Hi everyone, Has anyone had an issue where the "Immobilizer Active" message shows when trying to start their car? Mine wont start now because of this warning message, and ive tried the following so far: 1. Tried both keys and both do the same. 2. Disconnected the battery for 10 mins and reconnected but same result. Ive not yet checked the fuses as ive just driven 6 hours (in work's car) back from Cornwall so ill check it tomorrow, but can anyone offer advice before i call an auto electrician? Many thanks Lukasc
jeebowhite
Sounds like the car needs repairing to the key. I think the immobiliser has forgotten which keys are allowed to start the car.
lukasc
Ok so update - things arent looking good. So ive checked the battery, was over 12.5v. Ive also had the laptop plugged in via an ELM 327 HS/MS switchable cable and read the fault codes. Heres the bumf: Quote ===PCM DTC P0113:00-25=== Code: P0113 - IAT Sensor 1 Circuit High Input Status: - DTC Present at Time of Request - Malfunction Indicator Lamp is Off for this DTC Module: Powertrain Control Module ===END PCM DTC P0113:00-25=== ===PCM DTC U0129:00-2F=== Code: U0129 - Lost Communication with Brake System Control Module A Status: - DTC Present at Time of Request - Malfunction Indicator Lamp is Off for this DTC Module: Powertrain Control Module ===END PCM DTC U0129:00-2F=== ===OBDII DTC P0113-P=== Code: P0113 - IAT Sensor Circuit High Input Status: - Pending - malfunction is expected to be confirmed Module: On Board Diagnostic II Diagnostic Trouble Code details IAT Sensor Circuit High Input This DTC may be caused by : Open Circuit Signal shorted to VBATT or vref. But im starting to think its either the PCM or the ECU. Not good :-( :-( :-( (BTW ignote the IAT sensor fault - ive got the air filter out of the car at the moment.) jeebowhite
When the codes are cleared do they all come back? Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk
lukasc
Yes they were cleared several times (even tried the reset PCM module using FORscan). Ive left the battery disconnected tonight to give it a good chance to clear overnight, though I'm not optimistic about it working.
clegglet
Hi lukasc, Would you mind giving me an update on your car. We seem to have the same problem. Left 57 plate Mondeo (1.8 Tdci) for 3 weeks at manchester airport over xmas 2015. Returned to find it with immobiliser active on display. Assumed this had been triggered by a low battery after 3 weeks of no use. Green flag could not fix it, auto- electrician could not fix it but he said one of the error messages related to the ABS system. The car is with Ford today. £97/hr to hook up to their diagnostic machine!!! I hope you got yours fixed. Any advice for us?
lukasc
Mine turned out to be the ignition feed wire near the fuse box/battery had corroded. Not sure what module the feed was for. Certainly worth checking out before you start disconnecting the ABS pump like I did!! Can't tell you exactly where it is because it was a ford specialist garage that found it in the end. I don't think the Mondeo likes standing in cold damp weather for weeks
pragmatix
Also worth noting that the Silver Calcium batteries as fitted to Mondeoes won't recharge if they have become flat.
clegglet
So our diagnosis from ford is that the whole ABS module needs to be replaced £1100!!! plus the £300 they have racked up diagnosing this problem. Looks like we will have to scrap the car as it is probably only worth about £2000 to trade in. It was running perfectly, it just seems bizzare. Should we trust ford? Or should we try another garage? Can anyone recommend a mechanic in the chester area? :( Laura
pragmatix
I'd try a new battery
theredfox
why do not recharge with the silver calcium battery?
pragmatix
why do not recharge with the silver calcium battery? Cos if they have gone flat they don't recharge
