Dashcams

Featured Replies

I've got a dashcam in the front of my car, a nextbase 302, wired in with its red and green lights showing others it's there and working if they wanted to look (windscreen isn't in anyway obscured)

Thing is I'm looking at mounting another dashcam to the rear of the car, I was thinking about my old mobius tbh, but then thought, if people see they're being filmed; for instance if I bought a screen display cam and somehow had the screen and camera pointing behind, would that work better than just a little black camera blob pointed backward? At the same time I gotta wonder would a screen display incite roadrage or eliminate it? Or would it be considered a distraction and I'd get pulled for it?

I've got a dual camera system fitted with screen in glovebox

I think a screen showing people there on camera

would deter regular road rage

But also provoke those with other agendas as they see there family members appearing on screen in front.

It also brings the question of exactly why your fitting rear camera if adding a screen aswell it seems a bit flaunting aswell as covering rear end hit & run

I personally have a second camera (currently out of action, as I broke the lead!) but to be honest, I put it in, 9 times in 10, you wont really see it as your driving to be honest. Only the eagle eyed who pay attention see it. I have had idiots driving mm's off my bumper, and even though they could probably see if it they paid attention, they still didnt and it made no odds in deterring. To be honest though, I would fit the mobius, leave it as a sleeper.

If the idiots come, they get filmed, and you are protected in a crash, likewise, if you find they are true idiots, the local traffic unit may be interested in following it up.

Today I just completed my witness questionnaire for yet another report of bad driving to Kent police.
