Confirming Which Version Of The 1.0 Ecoboost Engine

Featured Replies

Hi guys

I'm in the market for an ecoboost engine, probably the 100. Just wanted to ask if there is any way of confirming which version of the engine I am looking at. Obviously, most garages will state what the bhp on the adverts are, but is there any indication on the car whether it is the 80, 100 or 125 version?

Don't want to think I'm getting the 100 and end up with the 80!

Cheers

Not sure there is an 80 bhp version ?

100, 125 & 140 for the 3 pot i.i.r.c.

There you go - you learn something new everyday - although this engine is not an ecoboost, it's n / a

Edited by MONDEO TXS 2.2

The bhp / ps / kw output will be stated on the V5 relating to the vehicle so just ask to see that if you don't believe the salesperson / ad

If the 79bhp engine has no turbo - how can it be named eco boost ? - where does the boost come from if not the turbo ?

It'll be gutless in any case :)

It does not have a turbo, so describing it as an ecoboost is incorrect & therefore i was correct to state that there is not a 80 (79 ) bhp '' ecoboost ''

As others have said that particular car is duratec, not ecoboost, and has been kicking about on forecourt since june, I wonder why? A rare fiesta with that non ecoboost engine.

Doesnt show up on that particular vehicle, but good way to check vehicle normally

I've found that etis only allows vehicle lookup by VIN only. No regd numbers.

If you don't see reg search, trying a different browser, or failing that, try registering as an independent.

I'd hardly say rare, have uncovered lots of them during my search and there is more than that one example that is being described as an 'ecoboost'- funnily enough all by Ford franchise dealerships.

They may or not be rare, but one thing is certain, this 79bhp engine is naturally aspirated & not turbocharged & therefore cannot be described as an '' ecoboost '' engine i.m.o.

This 3 pot n/a engine is the replacement for the 4 pot 1.25 n/a Duratec & is known as a 1.0 Duratec Ti VCT - according to the Wikipedia entry

I'm suprised Trading Standards aren't interested in misrepresentation.

Fox, duratec 1.0 is n/a , any way, at least gavin now knows, and to be wary of the adverts

Think theres not many of us on here to have drivem one, not that bad as long as your a town driver, I was suprised how lively it was at lower speeds.

Our local Fraud stealer has a couple as '' courtesy cars '' & a couple of 4 pot 1.25's too & i know which i would prefer if i was in that market , , yes it is meant as a town car i.m.o.

Seems a strange engine choice by Fraud - as that market is / should be covered by the 1.0 99bhp ecoboost i would have thought

I was given a 1.0 N/A 80 PS version as a loan car some time back and was reasonable impressed with it.

Certainly fely nippier than a 1.25 Duratec Mk 6.

Had a Ka 1.25 and it was a gutless, horid P.O.S

The 1.0 100ps Fiesta, definitely a good choice.

Agree with about having that version as well. Does seem strange.

Same here Willy, the other halves KA was torque less. Shame they aint banged the 1.0 in that.

etis is wierd, to be able to enter a cars reg in I have to use my mobile or tablet becuase on the dektop there is no option and only the VIN field. But yeah the best place to check a cars engine and version.

ecoboost definetly only comes in 100, 125 & 140 versions.
