Mk6.5 Fiesta Diesel Starting Problems

Featured Replies

I've recently brought a mk6 fiesta style diesel

I'm having problems with it starting.

Occasionally it will just start after a little effort - I'm putting this down to needing new glow plugs etc.

Are they hard to change or could it be something else?

(Once started providing the immobiliser lets it, it always turns over easy)

Other times the immobiliser will flash rapidly and I have to go through the process of locking/unlocking it and eventually the immobiliser will let me start it after a few attempts!

I only have one remote key and a copy with no chip.

I used my android with a obd2 reader when it's playing up and it came up with the following codes:

B1601

B1681

Does anyone know the solution to my problems?

Tia

I thought glow plugs are only really needed in subzero temperatures to aid starting. So surely not cold enough for them to matter.

For the immobiliser, get the car scanned and clear fault codes. I had same issue and this fixed it.

Clear the codes and see what happens, its probably an immobiliser issue, someone else on here had an issue like this and found it was one of the fuses for the immobiliser that had blown - they replaced it and everything was fine again - check the fuses first.
