The dome is the light sensor for auto headlamps though I believe it's empty if you don't have them. The top at the mirror contains the light sensors are used in the rain detection for auto wipers

Actually the one on the dash is sunload sensor for aircon, and the box next to mirror is gps unit for emergency assistance feature through the sync module and a paired phone.

Ah thanks Ian I was always told the dome was for auto lights. The box on mine at the mirror also contains the infrared sensor for the water detection , forgot about the emergency gps unit

The light sensor is part of the rain sensor if you have autolights/wipers.

The dome also dims the interior lighting for those with auto lights.

And does the above as Iantt said

MY car has the thing above the mirror. You might not know it but your car will have dimming lights. If you change the dashboard brightness down and then when you drive around during the day with the lights on it will dim accordingly. I thought it was broken at first.
