Fusion 3 1.4 Tdci 2004 Timing Belt Change

Hi all,

I was going to try and do this myself. I have ordered a Gates kit with pulleys and water pump.

A little concerned because I think the pulleys may be floating pulleys and wondering if I should stay away from the job

and just get my local garage to fit it.

Has anyone here fitted this themselves ? I do have some experience with mechanics.

Thanks, Michael

I haven't done one on the 1.4 TDCI but your correct in what your saying. It will have floating cams and crank. You'll need the correct locking tools in order to do the job.

I'd suggest if your not overly confident then you should let someone else do it.

Many thanks Stefan,

I might look at the cost of the tools and also try to find a video on youtube, doesnt appear to be one for this exact engine.

If its too expensive and I feel not confident enough I will pay our local garage to do it.

Thanks, Michael

I just had mine done at a garage for £250. Just thought I'd post to give you an idea of price.
