Mk6 Mirror Wiring (Not Autofold)

Featured Replies

Hi

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the 2003 Mk 6. I am trying to get them working but both are dead.

Many Thanks

I take it you have electric wing mirrors then..

So, did the car have them fitted from the factory?

Have you checked the fuse in the glovebox?

Yes I have checked the fuse and its ok

Have you checked the connection into the back of the switch/controller bit?

The connectors seem OK and there doesn't appear to be any damage to the cables

Hmm.. and neither of the mirrors is doing anything?

Breath on the mirrors to mist them up and then put the heated mirror on, see if they work

Ok I will give that a try tomorrow

I checked the heaters on the mirrors and they both melted the ice on them and got nice and toasty.

Have you tried replacing the fuse? It May look ok but be dead.

I can't think wether they have a relay too...

Sorry for delay in replying but been away for couple of days.

Have checked the fuse with an ohm meter and it is ok. Pulled out the mirror controller and there is 14V there on one terminal, but doesn't transfer to any over terminal when the joystick is moved.

Sounds like the switch/joystick thing has failed..remove it + try testing for continuity whilst moving it :)

You should have 12 v at the orange/yellow wire pin 6, and less than 4 ohms resistance at black wire pin 4. Check those.

If those check out ok then check between pin 3 white and pin2 blue/white for less than 50ohms resistance( this is checking a motor circuit) if thats ok then switch has failed

You've access to too many numbers Ian! Haha

Have checked for 12v and that's there on terminal 6. Have checked the ohms reading and it's below what you said. Have found a switch on eBay so will give it a go.

Many Thanks. Have fitted replacement switch and it works like a dream.
