loss of power (juddering )

Featured Replies

Hi, firstly please move if Ive posted in the wrong section of the forum. I own a ford fiesta 2009 1.2 zetec . i have been having problems with it for the last week or so . when i change in to second gear and accelerate i get a juddering and there is barely any power so i have to change into second gear at around 4500rpm for the car to accelerate and a near normal rate ( still slight judder) . I took my car in for a mot at a place my mate uses and i failed on emissions but pass me costing me £75 for the pleasure and told me to come back and he with change the fuel filter and if its not that change the fuel pump but when i dropped it off to start with he took it for a drive and said he thought it might be for coil pack . there is no warning lights so he couldn't run a diagnostic. i was just wondering if anyone else has back the same or similar problem. if i can id like to avoid paying for 3 different parts to be fitting out of luck that it will fix the problem .

#cheers

When was the last full service ?

  • Author

January last year

What was changed as part of the service ?

  • Author

i was given a free service a year on from buying the car i have no idea . would you recommend. i buy a new set of filters and do they come as a set like a service pack

I'd start with new spark plugs first as this is the cheapest potential fix & then go from there if there's no difference

Sounds like coil pack which can take the plugs and leads with it! Easy to check the leads, check the resistance with a meter.

Yep, as last post, coil pack or spark plugs or both.

If you have a missfire under load then you may get a dtc on diagnostics even though engine light may not be on.
