Charging battery

depends how flat it is. generally under normal conditions it only charges when moving with foot off the gas. (smart regenerative charging) however if it is fairly flat it will start charging continuously. if you want to top up battery just get yourself a charger.

Yes leaving the car idling with charge the battery. Ford's are fitted with a smart charge system so unless the battery requires charging, the car won't charge it. Some of the newer cars are fitted with regenerative braking, although these obviously still have an alternator.
