Fiesta 1.4tdci battery/electrical problem

Featured Replies

Hi

Just wondering if any one has had this problem before.

There is something pulling 18 amps from my battery when the car is turned off. I have changed the common culprits I.e the battery and alternator and I have checked all the fuses.

Any help would be great

Thanks

18 amps would burn out your wireing. Or blow a fuse.

Well I hAve had my amp meter on it and that's what it says

That's a huge amount with everything off, should be 0.02amps or there about.

Thats 200w+ , pulling the fuses out one by one, and try unplugging the glow plug relay.

I have done that with every fuse engine and cab still no change I will have to check the glow plug relay where it that located?

So you disconnect the battery and connect the ammeter from the battery to the positive lead and measure 18A?

I disconnect the earth and put the amp meter on the earth and negative terminal.

Glow plug relay is about 4inches away from radiator bottom hose,

18amps is a lot of current flow, I take it if you leave battery connected overnight , the following morning its dead flat ?

  • Author

Yes dead as a dodo it all started when I cleaned my car out with radio on and drained the battery it hasn't been right since.
