Thanks. Is that the same as the lambda sensor? Just a different name for it?

Same thing, there's narrow band and wideband, narrow band are the normal lambda sensors you find on most engines. On the 1.0 ecoboost you have both, wideband upstream, narrow downstream of cat.

Thanks :)

£213 Inc vat

The garage can get the part for £180 so I've got it in on Thursday morning. He said he's been testing it all day and it's not opening and closing correctly - does that sound about right? They have removed the light which surprisingly hasn't come back on. I'm getting onto my dealer to see if I can get something towards the cost. Gotta be worth a shot!

It won't switch rich/lean like a normal narrowband, so you can't check it that way, it's the heater circuit that has failed anyway. Just a resistance check required. Is 180 Inc vat? If it is , that's a good price for it.

Yes mate it includes VAT. :)

Just to update the thread - I had the lambda sensor (located at the top of the engine) replaced this morning for £230 inc labour which I thought was a decent price. Once the new sensor was installed he got it up on the diagnostic machine and the readings were showing as they should. All working so far but the mechanic did say this shouldn't be failing on a 12 plate focus with 34k on the clock. Glad its sorted now anyway.

I agree, they should last longer than that , it is a rare occurrence and seems to only to affect 2012/2013 sge of focus for some reason,

Thanks again for the help :)

Think yourself lucky its a Ford. I had the NOX Sensor go on my previous BMW and they wanted £450 to change it. I bought a used one from a car that had only done 5k miles. It was the latest version of the sensor for £165 on eBay and it worked a treat. Stick with Fords.
