started my car today and an orange spanner lit on the dash and the sat nav display told me to get the engine serviced...only serviced in jan of this year so not sure what was wrong.it ticked over ok but would not rev properly,turned off the ignition and restarted and was ok then,any ideas ? the engine was at full working temp done about 50 miles today before this happened .

Service indicator probably wasn't reset at service. 

On some cars it means there's a problem with the electronics and others there's a spanner which means service interval

more like the electronics as the engine wold not rev correctly....maybe the fuel pump again,had one replaced a few months ago now this one making the same racket ....

if that was the case its been ok for the last 2k miles ,and why would it not rev properly ?

Reading your post again, it's only got 9500 miles on the clock? So shouldn't even have hit the indicator.

yes fair point will just wait until it does it again and then ring the stealers..
