ST3 MPG?

Featured Replies

Thanks guys.

I was just curious about MPG. I only get about 39 or 40 in my Zetec 1.1 currently. And that is generally driving sensibly. But it's stop and start all the time. I did recently get 50 MPG on a nice trip to Scotland.

I have 3 months left on my current 2014 Zetec on PCP. £160 per month. The car was worth £11500 brand new with a £150 deposit.

I'm a bit lost as to how Jennings worked out my finance though. As for a £10999 ST2, they've quoted me £199 per month over 3 years with the same deposit. Doesn't make sense.

I have seen some lovely 2014 plates on auto trader but non are local to go see. If I found something perfect right now, I could even pay off my last few months on this one ;-)

Its because the interest on £10,999 will be at a higher rate. You maybe paying something like 6-7% interest on yours (not bothered working out figures, its monday!) However, on the £10,999 at 199 per month could be like 10%. However, I'm guessing the 10,999 3 year is a PCP? (since 199 x 36 doesn't equate to the full value of the car).

Try Drive the Deal or CarWow (both great sites) they're for new cars though. However, you'll be on a PCP at a different rate of interest, hence the higher price.

I'd love to get brand new again. But if I'm getting a ST, that's probably not an option. I've seen quite a few now on EvansHalshaw that are two year old for around £170-£190 with a £1500 deposit. I'd rather deal with Jennings as the guy I bought from two years was great, but theirs are too expensive.

Evans Halshaw are usually quite cheap (used to work for them) however I wouldn't buy a car from the dealer where I was - however thats just me! (I'm sure other sites are better etc). Yeh, with DTD etc you can get new ST's for about 16k however its still a big jump u[ from what you rlooking at.

PCP's are alright, you just have to be careful if you wish to modify it in any way and also, you have to let the car go again. (Most of the quotes on their website are for PCP and whenever you go in store they always say "Oh thats an estimate we can never match that, its just a hook". They can match it, they just want to give you a higher rate of interest. ) I just stayed away from one and got a bank loan instead as I couldn't judge ploughing 7k into a 10k car and then not have it at the end :(.
