Having trouble working out difference between the TD and TDCi diesels

Am looking to get a mk6 diesel fiesta and am trying to find fuel economy figures to compare. Parkers has them all listed as TDCi but on autotrader a lot of the older pre face lift models are listed as TD. I am trying to find out whether it is just a different name for the same engine, or if there will be a noticeable difference in mpg between the TD and the TDCi (pretty sure it has something to do with the commonrail injection system).

Have also been looking at the real mpg figures on the honestjohn website but again there are figures for the TDCi but not for the TD. It's frustrating me. Can anyone give me some information on this? Thanks

Technically it's not the same, but that's the sellers fault for not being more specific.  TD is just turbo diesel so covers loads of engines for decades, TDCI is turbocharged direct common-rail injection which is a specific diesel injection system.

On the Mk6 they are all TDCI though, either 1.4 or 1.6.

Excellent. Thanks for clarifying.
