Should i buy a Fiesta Zetec S MK6?

Featured Replies

This question has probably been asked a number of times but i am in need of some advice.

Currently i have a 1.2 corsa and after having the car for a year i think it is time for a change. I have looked at various cars; Skoda vrs which was too expensive to insure and rather ugly, a Swift sport 1.6 but that was a tad out of my price range and more to insure. So I narrowed it down to the Zetec S, should i buy one of these? If anyone owns one some feedback or advice would be appreciated.

I had a 1.4 c2 before I had my red edition and it was a great decision. Test drive one and see how it feels!

I have zetec s tdci mk6 myself I can say its perfect in everyway I even like it more than the mk7 mine have only 40k miles and had one owner I would advice buy one with low milage if you thinking of keeping it for bit longer, as you can sell it better is wel after, you wanting the petrol or diesel ??

really depends on your budget i have a old 2002 and in need of a lot of work injector seals need replacing and fuel lines can let in air.

this is to be expected if you buy a older one

i would not buy another car with 100,000 miles lesson learned my 1.4 tdci has a weird air leak trying to do everything to save money

is a nightmare replacing the fuel filter is fun never mind replacing injector seals.

The ones ive been looking at have 100,000+ miles, but if its had regular services and what not it should be okay shouldnt it?

And im thinking a petrol since the diesel is just a tad slower, and im also looking at the facelift verison just because it looks a bit smarter.

I would definitely love to get one, how does it handle? And how is it powerwise?

if your going to buy a fiesta with 100.000 check the fuel lines to see if they have been replaced a car of that many miles will have old lines that are yellow and grubby like mine lol.

i would not get a petrol i would always go diesel they last longer and longer than the fuel lines hence why i cant find any diesel fuel lines at the scrappies there is only petrol fiesta's

Does that specifically apply to fiesta's? And im not worried about it lasting forever, id only have it for a year and a half max.

well i have had my fiesta for less than a year due it's mot next month and it is off road due to a air leak in the fuel maybe i was unlucky.

but the money i am going to have to spend on getting it fixed could go to buying a better car and thats the thing with cars.

yes the ford fiesta has a known history with fuel lines leaking air and injector seals leaking.

but if you consider the amount of old fiestas still on the road compaired to other cars they do last.

but i will say learn mechanics that is my hobby for a few years now and motorbike i know my way around cars is my learning curve.

thing is cars with 100.000 miles are not worth taking to a garage and spending £400 for a air leak like my car.

i could spend £400 and then the clutch gear box could go.

there is videos on youtube to replace injector seals and change brake shoes and haynes manual for everything else.

thats if you dont mind learning and spending spare time working on cars then you really will be able to buy anything with

100.000 miles and not have to spend too much on repairs.

my example is i just put £200 new tyres on my car and now it's needing work on the fuel system then mot next month

sometimes i just think i should get a bus pass.

Yeah i guess spending a little bit more is probably best then and i do enjoy tinkering with cars, if i can do it i would rather do it then sending it to the garage, gives you a nice sense of achievement haha.

With my corsa i think i just got lucky, 125,000 miles, minor oil leak but thats been sorted. No problems since; touch wood!

What fiesta have you got anyway?

i have a 2002 1.4 tdci zetec nothing special i really hate the fact i bought it ha ha realizing i could have got a year younger version and only pay £30 a year road tax.

but i am stuck with £120 a year that sucks that is another reason to get rid of it and get a younger model.

the biggest surprise today was getting my breakdown cover on my insurance to come and prime the air leak only to be told

because my car is outside my home they would charge me £100 to come out as i need to be 3/4 of a mile away from to not have to pay the charge so i will be either getting a tow rope or push the car down hill for a mile ha ha.

could only happen to me

purchased mine for 550 quid off a dealer who sells expensive cars like Mustangs, Mini Cooper Sports, Skylines etc etc. It was a Part EX vehicle so sold so cheap. Only done 66k miles and passed MOT no sweat last week. Yes it came with its flaws like a dented wing but replaced for 30 quid. I got the 3 door MK6. Love it that much it is now my project vehicle. They are great to drive, cheap to insure even with tuning options (my second car, owner a fiesta classic 1 litre) other than the wing its perfect. No rust no other serious issues. Came with 5 new tires, years MOT, Full tank of petrol, Valet etc. Has had 2 owners one doctor and then his sister who is a surgeon. Yes I found a scalpel and a eye light thing and some medical records but hey ho XD

Here is a few photos of my motor. The wing was dented on the way to mine by some donut in tesco who cant reverse and would rather hit my car than a trolley.

I found this on Facebook so give there a try can pick up some bargains on the car pages there.

good purchase you got a good deal i paid £800 for mine with years mot but apart from air leak in fuel it has run great.

if i can get another year out it i will be happy

thats a shame about the donut who dented the side but once your driving it does not make a diffrence.

another thing with my fiesta the cd player does not work and no way can i be botherd to replace it.

i got a mp3 player that transmitts the music to the radio so no need to mess around buying a cd player and taking half the car apart to fit it.

fits in the cigarette lighter £5 from flea bay

not a bad price 800 quid. How many miles has your motor done? There is always that one driver though. Her car came off worse. I believe she snapped some of her rear bumper clips and it was hanging one side. Least mine was cheap fix. Got my new wing from Ebay for £25. Yeah the tool set cost a fortune at £250 but the cars worth it. I hope mine lasts a while. Aint bothered painting the wing as i plan on repainting the whole thing to look a little like the photo. Got lots of stuff planned for it. Insurance aint to bad for what i wanna do either in my case. £2k a year im only 21 XD

c2-1_zpsc4121ec7.jpg

my old car has done 117.000 miles

i like the green car thats nice and the facelift headlight fit our pre facelift fiesta they have the same plug electric connectors so easy mod

find some cheap ones on ebay.

i would be tempted to mod my fiesta but after i found a bottle of wine in my drivers seat when i went to take the car to get new tyres fitted

i realized the bottle was taken from a recycle box at the side of the road and there was glass everywere.

was not until 2 days later when autoglass were fitting my new passenger window that the culprits attempted to smash the drivers side

missed and hit the door frame between the roof so a nice big dent

so no mods for my car just not worth the work now with the dent i would need a new door.

there is no way i am doing that ha ha.
