Mk6 Haynes Favour?

Featured Replies

Evening all,

Got a few bits to fit to the ST in the morning but I like torqueing things properly and not just using the FT method lol.

Could someone take a pic or scan the suspension tightening torques page from the mk6 Haynes for me tonight/early morning please?

I know it says it doesn't cover the ST but I would assume the suspension is all the same with the Zetec S.

Cheers in advance!
Tom

Cheers Ian, sorted :)

Next problem though, hulk has done these up, broke an extension and an adapter, and finally a bolt extractor has justfully rounded one.  No idea how I'm gonna get those out. 😞

Probably best sticking to a decent local independent garage, especially for older cars for jobs like these, ready access to the the "hot spanner" etc!

It's not even 8 years old yet lol...  I expected stuff like this on the 20 year old 306s, not on this though.

what bolt extractors are you using? I know the set I use would bite into that and remove it.

Irwin.  There's nothing wrong with the extractors, it's just so damn tight even the extractor slipped eventually and pulled of chunks of metal with it.

I've just damaged one of the stupid low profile sidewalls on a pothole as well...stopped at the petrol station to refill it to get home and find one of my freshly painted brake calipers has been covered in huge lumps of dirt from somewhere.  I honestly give up today...

Your not trying hard enough with them  We did a job last week with a front shock pinch bolt. Heated it up nearly red hot, wouldn't budge and was totally rounded. Extractor on it with 600mm bar, couldn't shift it because it was on the deck n my mate was struggling to hold it still. Stuck the extractor into the impact gun and it come out no probs.

Hammer on a smaller size extractor.

Probably is user error lol, but how does a 10mm bolt even get that tight in the first place?  I was bending the 3ft breaker bar on it that usually takes 35mm hub nuts off!!

I don't have anything to heat it unfortunately, really should get a blowtorch or something I guess, that's all my mechanic mate suggested...but he didn't offer to do it for me haha.

I don't even have an adapter to fit the bolt extractor on the impact gun.

Fancy popping over and doing it for me Stef?

I'm surprised you haven't snapped it to be honest. Its not even a 10mm bolt, it's only an M6 probably.

Think your a bit far away for me mate lol, otherwise you'd be more than welcome

Me too lol...  I must admit, Ford bolts often seem to have ridiculously small heads BUT strong shanks...  I snap all sorts of stuff on the Pugs, everything on this just rounds or bends!  I do find it weird having an 18mm nut on the back of a 14mm head bolt (when I refer to size, it's always the head btw lol).

One of the 13mm bolts on the wishbone rear bush had to come out with the 3ft breaker, I was waiting for it to round or snap but it just bent instead lol.
