hardwiring a dashcam

hi im not to great with elictrical stuff but i want to hardwire my dashcam to use parking mode.i have 2 wires up to now a 12v to 5v convertor and a piggy back fuse wire(pictured below)could anyone tell me roughly what to do with the wires or if il need an extra usb cable with this method.thanks in advance

If you don't know what you're doing with electrics, get a pro to do it, only cost me an extra 30 quid (they were hardwiring in my sub)

That's not to sound mean but you don't want short circuits and fusing blowing left right and centre saying otherwise :smile:

You basically choose a permenant live 12v feed and you tap your positive into it, and the negative into any earth point of the car.

 

As you have a fusetap there, it looks like you would be running that from the gem board, and could then tap it into any slot that is free, or piggy back a known permanent socket. Most of the fords these days run permenant power to the GEM's but then CANBUS tells it to wake up and use it.

Here is mine on my fuse box,i have 2 as i wanted one permanent for tracker and the one you see is for dash cam which is ignition.

Some holes are free but the earth can go onto the nut as you see on my pic,some more will add to this but its a easy job,wanted to

keep my cigi lighter free as it permanent live.
