Airbag light flashing

Featured Replies

Hi there all, just bought a 53 plate 1.6 petrol fusion and I've a problem with the airbag light sometimes flashing and sometimes it stops on does anyone have any ideas, also to give it a good clean am I ok to just unbolt the front seats from the floor ( torxs bolts) there doesn't look like there's any wires going to them for airbags

thanks all

I seem to remember that if you're going to take out the seats then I think you need to disconnect the battery before you unplug the wires underneath as you might set the seatbelt pre-tensioners off

Even then you should wait a little while as the system has it's own reserve power source which supplies juice in case of a break in the main electrical supply

Also the Haynes manual admits that this sort of issue might be beyond a DIY mechanic..

After a bit of messing about I've found the fault,it's the wiring under the passenger seat that as far as I know goes to the pre-tensioner on the seatbelt thingy

Thanks for the help folks

Rob
