Ford Focus Mk2 auto headlights/window wipers

Featured Replies

Hi

I've been looking at installing auto headlights and wipers on my 2007 Focus I was wondering if there's anyone that does a loom for it, I've checked in the ceiling and the only cables i can find are a thin male connector and the connector below, i have no idea what they are for

Just buy the factory loom and pull it through  (50 quid ish ).....did it a couple of years back on a 2008 focus.

Check first if the BCM has the  pin outs to support auto lights and wipers ......mine didn't i recall so i had to change it  also.

Made a back up  of the original configuration with ELMconfig program, fitted loom, auto light switch and rain /light sensor ,  then wrote original config to new BCM and then modified it to include rain sensor and auto lights.

Worked perfectly.

Brilliant thanks man what am i looking for on the BCM?

before you do that, put your hand up above the liner and feel for a cable going down the middle, it will feel like its going directly to the rear dome light.  mine turned out to be that cable, I assumed it was for the light and everyone said the cable should be at the front but after I pulled it up I discovered the correct connector!

I'm just waiting on a chipped window before getting that replaced and installing the sensor.

Thanks guys I know how my weekend is going to be spent

Look for the C98 connector on the BCM...it's the smallest sqare-ish connector there. Basically, if it has all it's pins on the board and connector it self, you can be sure that the connector is also glued somewhere under the roof.

In my case, I had the wiring, but the BCM only had some of the pins required so I needed to change that too.

After that, I went to my local car window shop and asked them to switch the holder for the autodimm rear view mirror and glue the sensor with it's holder on the window. To make it look OEM-ish, I also put on a black tint as a surround for the sensor in the shape of the original surround that's on the sensor-equipped glass. All together held very nicely till few weeks ago, when I noticed there's a "bubble" under the new rear view mirror mount and the whole window needs to be replaced. Luckilly my insurance is going to cover it whole, and so I'm getting a "correct" window for sensor equipped car. (Only bad thing is that the OEM window with Ford logo is too expensive, so I'm getting only the replacement part...)

You can also check out the thread that's already here where this all has been discussed and you can find many more advices:

Oh and one more thing. If you only want the sensor for auto-lights and wipers, you don't necessarily need to change the mirror mount if you don't want to mess with it. There is a mirror used in Fiesta Mk6.5 which has the same mount as non-sensor window mirror on Focus, but, it has the holder for the sensor cover on it, so you don't have the wires and sensor exposed. You can find them on ebay from time to time, relatively cheap. You can also check out my build thread where I believe are also some pics of how it looks in various stages of the installation and I will put in few more after new window will be installed.
