No i swapped the ic from the donor as well . every thing is the same as before. dash fault also now that i have swapped back the old units ,but the car is now driveable again.

i think i found the reason the replacement units wouldn't let the car run is that my friend thought i had a 1.4 and i visa versa  a silly school boy error that i should of checked. but i do now no i have a spare working ic.  is there a way i can program this ic i have to the car?.

Forscan can reset and setup ICs, or so I have heard.

It is not something to play about with lightly, normally. The PATS system involves the IC on many cars, and so a fault in the setting up could disable the car completely. But with a spare unit, you can afford to be more cavalier.

Just read the screen, and be careful if it says anything about writing to, or resetting, your good pcm.

You will not lose anything by connecting up, and having a look through the list of service procedures. And if you fit the spare pcm & spare IC, you can experiment pretty freely.

Thought i'd better update this thread.  i ended up taking the car to a independent Ford garage who said they could program the ic to the car for me ,  when i went to collect the car the guy said for some reason he couldn't do it so ended up parking the car up for a wile on the drive till i had more time to play with it.

So some time has passed and had to move the car a week or so ago, not sure what has happened ti the time it was parked up but every thing is working as it should. i have no eml and now have the speedo and the millage display.  have been using the car for nearly two weeks now with no problems at all.

what ever happen'd i'm happy with the result . :smile:

now for some reason i'm helping a friend with his galaxy but that's another thread.
