Would you or not complain about a bad driver caught on your camera.

Featured Replies

This was today,a white firms van like a long transit type was stuck about 2 feet from my back end then went past me doing a good 70 and on narrow road just

before a bend,i have it all on the dash cam,i did my horn and he did a nice hand signal out of the window which i think he is,it starts with W.

I have all the phone number etc of the firm on my camera but would you ring them just for the sake of it,if no hand signal i would of just left it be but i mean he was dam mad.

Post the video to YouTube (aptly named for plebs like this) and send the company the link in an email saying "I'd like to know if all your drivers are taught to drive like this"

Russ's comment is spot on.There are just too many dangerous, arrogant ***** on the road and the more they get away with it the worse they get.

I tend to shut off mainly and just think prat but this just got up my back when the arm come out the window.

I did think youtube and facebook but i read something that they can have you for posting something like that to the public, don't know.

At the very least send contact the company and send them the video footage.

I'm sure someone on another post similar to this a few months back mentioned there's a website the police use that you can upload videos to and they review them and can take action against the drivers. Can't remember the website but someone else may remember it.

Problem with 'white van men' is that they are trying to get a job done and need to get from A to B quickly.  Plus they're probably late with their boss shouting at them on the phone as well...  If you were only doing 50 on an NSL road (for example), I wouldn't be at all surprised that he was annoyed with you.  Beeps and anchor signs wouldn't bother me either, I'm sure we all probably exchange those when heated at some point.  Overtaking on a blind bend is the part I would chase up though as it's actually dangerous as opposed to the other stuff.

I tend to just pull over and let them pass in this situation, just wish other people will do the same when I'm stuck behind them!!

Me too, unlike the 52-plate Peugeot 206 I was behind the other day which was doing 30 in a 60 and kept jabbing the brakes whenever it got close to 35...  Now that was worthy of a "hand gesture".  Doing 50MPH is only a mild irritant by comparison.

I've put footage of a local council van on Youtube and sent it to them before.  And I have done it with a bus company.  Annoyingly, you never know what happens to the perpetrators but it's still a little satisfying.

I also posted a video of some moron a few months back driving dangerously, who was incidentally in a Fiesta ST.  The odd thing about this is that they subsequently saw the video and gave me a load of abuse!  Even better, their friends also waded in and tried defending the driving that nearly forced me into a crash.  My revenge was to then contact the police who I believe did take the matter forward.  Naming an shaming - it's the way forward.

I've sent footage to go on Youtube before, try Exposed: UK Dash Cams if you really want to shame him, they get a lot of views and content sent to them :)

I feel like idiot drivers should be shamed. I'll admit I make the odd mistake if I misjudge something but other things that people do such as driving up a queue of traffic in a right turn only lane then indicate to come in, also known as, queue jumping and people just shoving their way in after undertaking a bucket load of people when the motorway hard shoulder has turned to a red cross long before they decide they are coming into the onward going lanes simply annoys the poo out of probably a lot more than just me. Then there are the completely gormless ones who pull out without looking or look right at you and do it anyway.

Never leave home without my dashcam now. its a Novatek E-Prance :)

Well i rang the ''firm'' and its just 1 person named paul and a woman in the office, said what went on and they said they will tell the person, yea right.

Said sorry and all that stuff and said about video and police and could not stop saying sorry,it was a 65 reg van.

As for trying to get to work,i know some work on a sunday but it was a window firm and a sunday morning about 9.

I know this is probably coming a bit late but there's a naming and shaming section on Facebook for drivers such as this (idiot UK drivers exposed), why not post the video up on There? I'm sure the company will love being on social media :twisted1:

I have seen that on Facebook,i got the joy out of it by ringing them and video will always be on my p.c.

I think being a Motorbike rider few years before my car you see things that bit more it front like what could happen,if a bike was coming then that would of been it.

What did they say if you don't mind my asking?

What was the outcome of that?

I just rang and told them about one of there drivers went past me and the hand signal and then i went on if there was kids/bike and things.

Got to say she was nice but she just kept saying sorry and she will have a word with him, seems a family firm what i can make of it,based in telford and redditch.

As long as you feel she was genuine and not fobbing you off that's the main thing

I say that as I had a run in with a bus driver about a year ago now, pulled out without indicating or looking when I was halfway through overtaking him, then stayed almost attached to my bumper most of the way back! I slowed to 10mph for his troubles but he still didn't get the hint, so I called the bus depot when I got in, to be told 'oh were you the one in the white fiesta?'  and generally fobbed off as a result, them saying new driver, disinterested attitude and the rest of it...

To say if I'm ever in a position around here to kindly let a bus driver out of a junction I let them, well I'd be lying

Yes seemed ok,it wasn't the point of the person overtaking me it was where he did it and how he was like 2ft away from my back end and then what

got to me was the sign when he stuck his arm out of the window,i had my 88year old dad in so i don't ever drive mad but if its 50 i don't go 70.

Hopefully that'll put him back in his place.  The people who behave like that have no intellegence whatsoever, and can only think one step ahead.  When you are driving you need to be thinking ten steps ahead!  More often than not you find that a few miles down the road said van is stuck at a red light and has got to its destination no quicker than it would have if it just stayed behind you.  And as for attaching themelves to your bumper - that is just intimidatation and doesn't help them whatsoever.  To get a clear view to overtake, and to overtake per se you need to have a safe distance between you and the car in front, so there is no reason to get close, other than trying to intimidate the driver to go faster.

Doesn't work with me I'm afraid, for every inch you get closer to me I'll drop 1MPH.  The lowest I've gone so far was 40 in a 60.  To begin with I was going 65 (so actually speeding), but that wasn't enough for the 61-plate Astra behind.  Needless to say he eventually managed to overtake and then sped straight past a 30 sign at 55!!  He'll get his comeuppance one day though, when he does it to an unmarked police car or somebody with a rear-facing dash cam who could report him for dangerous driving.

Don't know if anyone knows the road, aint got the number but known as the ''Rabbit run'' part of the Wolverhampton to Bridgnorth road.

Its a heaven for bikers and if you do know it then you know how bad the road can be with prats like that on it.

I more often than not upload idiots to youtube, but those who are royally moronic - get a referral to the local force!

It is always a tricky situation to decide what to do, report it or share if you think it should be noticed and looked into, but the camera does sometimes lie and not show the full story.

Also remember karma is always there to come back and reward you or bite you. What goes around comes around sadly.

You really have to be whiter than white to criticise someone else's driving as we all sometimes make daft mistakes etc and with the amount of people with dash cams these days you never know when you might just happen to be the star of the video.

Karma has a habit so sometimes it is better off to leave it be, those who really need to be reported or highlighted will soon draw attention to themselves of their own accord without any help from others, otherwise if we are not careful we will all turn into dash cam Hitler's in the future.

Just my 2 cents.
