Lowering on standard shock absorbers

I was just wondering as I want to upgrade the suspension on my Zetec s mk6 but don't want to spend a lot of money so was just wondering what is the maximum drop you can put on factory shocks was thinking of lowering 40mm btw

    40 mm on a standard setup sounds much. What are your current measurements and you also need to factor in the legal aspect :).

    My MK3 focus had 370 mm rear and 350 mm front on stock. Imagine being able to reduce that by 40 mm from factory. Maximum I believe should be in the 15 mm ballpark on stock.

    If I were to run napkin math according to the 40 mm you want I would have :

    Rear : 330

    Front : 310

    Front will not pass the road viability check.

    It wouldn't be a problem here legally.

    id look at 30-35mm
