focus fault codes

Featured Replies

hi does anyone know how many miles i will need to do after clearing fault codes to getting any codes back, as the car was repaired and codes cleared but now after only a few miles car has another problem but there arnt any codes. also can you get the codes op on the dash like a mondeo and how do you do it. its a 1.8 tdci year 2002. many thanks dave

If the car has been repaired and the fault codes cleared they shouldn't reappear unless the repair hasn't been carried out correctly or the codes cleared correctly.

Codes can reappear almost instanlty but can take as much as 30-40mins by the time the ecu can do a full systems check. The car must be running constantly for this amount of time

To get into the DTC dash check press and hold the trip reset and turn the ignition on. Release when it starts the dial sweep. Keep pressing the trip reset untill it comes to the DTC screen (around 6 times)

The "dash trick" will only list dTC codes pertaining to the instrument panel, not all codes stored on the ECU. Mine had athrottle position sensor fault and it still showed dTC none on the dash.
