Is it a leak?

Featured Replies

I just had my steering rack replaced last week. I have since noticed oily staining on the driveway. I have checked the ps fluid resovoir and it seems fine. Could it be a small drip from a hose? Or maybe setting in. The oil is clear on the drive, I have looked under and can't see it dripping but from where it is it looks like it's coming from behind the front wheels. I had no leaks before the repair. Should I take it in to get checked? I'm a bit worried because it was done in Arnold Clarke.

Cheers

Hi,

Try putting a sheet of cardboard (a flattened packing box is fine) under there, weighted down.

Then you may get a better idea of the location and amount, be able to double check it is oil, not water. And you have some evidence to take to the garage.  It is just possible they spilt some steering fluid during installation, and it is finding its way out. By replacing the card, you should be able to see if it is stopping.

take it back to check if it leaks
