Removing the inlet manifold - advice needed!

Featured Replies

Hi, trying to get my inlet manifold off for a good clean (having an issue with black smoke, new intercooler to EGR pipe fitted and EGR valve all cleaned up, but no doubt the manifold is also clogged).

I have removed everything but on the right hand side there is a thin(ish) pipe running up which is attached to the manifold and wrapped in black tape...

i may be missing something obvious here, but I don't know what this pipe is and how to safely remove it from the manifold. The tape (whatever it's for) obscures how it's attached. Online pictures of where it is removed shows a brass circle, suggesting it screws on somehow?

Would appreciate some advice from someone who has done this before.

Its a 2006 Mondeo 2.0l TDCI Euro 4

many thanks!
