Electric Blanket Recommendation?

Featured Replies

My elderly mum's electric blanket's remaining controller (the other one died about a year ago, and she switched sleeping sides of the bed as a result) died yesterday.  It was a Morphy Richards dual control fleece underblanket,  The little sticker with the model number has been worn off, so i can't tell what it was:mellow: She said she bought it when my Dad was alive and a few years before his first stroke.  Which makes it around 6-7 years old, I don't whether that's good life for an electric blanket or not:unsure:

I've been looking at replacements, she still wants a dual control, and she wants an underblanket.  It needs to washable, for those little accidents than can occur when you can't get out of bed quickly.  The controllers need to be quite basic, I think the intelligent ones will probably be to complicated for her, she just needs an up/down/off heat control.

Not being a blanket user myself (I prefer to sleep in a cold bed with all the windows open until the rain comes in:laugh:) I can only be guided by other's recommendations (Amazon mainly, so far)

I've heard of Morphy Richards (household electrics), Dreamland (pillows), Silentnight (Hippo and chick ads) and Lakeland (kitchenware, seems to branching out into other things:ohmy:) but there are other brands that I've never heard of, like Homefront, Linens Limited, Snug and Lloytron.

If the Amazon reviews are to be relied on, Dreamland is a good brand but seems to have recurring problem with the controllers failing prematurely, right across their range, As are Silentnight. The cheaper brands, have the controller problem plus they are uncomfortable either with chunky wiring or putting the socket in the sleeping zone (as opposed to underneath the pillow area)

Homefront double fitted dual controlled mattress cover is Which's "Best Buy"  The Daily Mail's liked Silentnight's Heated Fleece Memory Foam Double Mattress Topper. Whereas, The Independent, rated Dreamland's Sleepwell Intelliheat Luxury Cotton Mattress Cover at No.1 and the Silentnight at No.2 (in their top 10 electric blankets for 2016)

Anyone happen to have any recommendations of dual controlled washable electric underblankets?

I bought my mother a basic electric blanket last year and she finds it effective, but I too am a "cold sleeper", unless it is absolutely frigid then I will use a hot water bottle.

It is made by Beldray and seems to still be for sale.  She's had no complaints and is happy with it.

Just realised that you said "dual control", which the above is not.  It has one control which heats the whole blanket.

We have one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B005HHUMQS/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1475100034&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=dreamland+intelliheat&dpPl=1&dpID=51aaCbNLEUL&ref=plSrch

Quick to warm up, cosy with the fleecy way on top, can't feel the heating elements, washable, easy to put on and to remove ie no ties fitted sheet type thing. Not the cheapest but worth it.
