Focus problems

Featured Replies

This is my first post on here so apologies if it's in the wrong area (feel free to move to relevant area)

I purchased a 2011 focus 1.8 Zetec s a couple of months ago and the past few weeks I have noticed that when I change from 1st to 2nd there's like a pause/judder, also when idling it sits about 1k and fluctuates a little but when you apply a bit of gas and release it drops right down to half that and splutters a bit like it wants to stall!

also last night I could notice what sounds like a continuous whistling sound outside the car which I could hear at the side but not at the front (I don't have the best hearing so it could of been drowned out by the engine sound)

any help/input would be greatly appreciated as I'm not tech savvy when it comes to cars.
