OIL change

Featured Replies

Has anyone heard of or used a vacuum oil extractor when doing an oil change?  wondering if worth purchasing as I've never heard of one but got recommended to me,live on a narrow hill with no space as parking is limited

Local Halfords to me use them for some reason, I used to struggle with parking so just went to an empty car park with all the tools needed and cracked on with it.

It's alright for an intermediate change but I'd want to drain it properly every other time.  You'll get a sludge build up in the sump otherwise.

I used one, admittedly not as fancy as the one pictured, and found it was more effort and time than jacking up and doing it properly lol.  I only used it as the sump plug was rounded off, not out of choice.

To be honest it's only a £15 off ebay one but thought it would save me having to drive somewhere as can't do it on street and hill I live on

I have used it on mine, don't worry if the tube isn't narrow enough to fit down the dipstick - use the dipstick as a tube extension, oil changes take me about 15 minutes now.
