Thermostat Housing

I recently got a thermostat Housing crack on my ford fiesta 1.6 TDCI . I then used prattly steel putty to try and seal the crack. It actually sealed the crack and was not leaking anymore but later on it cracked on the bottom! Is it possible that there is a massive overpressure issue within the thermostat housing? If so what can I do to fix this , as im afraid of buying a new housing and it also just builds to much pressure and cracks.

Please help.

    surely the housing is plastic and not metal. , plastic housings go brittle over time and can crack, also the rubber seal deterioates and leaks. 

    just buy a new housing ,  fit and forget.
