Will a 2012 mk7 grill fit the 2009?

Featured Replies

Hi there people, this is my first post

just a quick one as I haven't seen this on the forums. Will a 2012 upper grill fit on the 2009 model lower grill. I wanted to take my front number plate off the car and put it either to one side or in the front window. So the 2012 model grill has got a upper grill with just honeycomb all over instead of the 2009 model having straight light with a big block of plastic for the number plate.

Would appreciate if someone could help

much respect

Bump

No it won't fit and the number plate is meant to be a the front on a fiesta.

Placing a number plate in the window is a no-no under The Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 2001 -

(3) A registration plate must not be fixed to a vehicle—

(c) in any other manner,

which has the effect of changing the appearance or legibility of any of the characters of the registration mark, which renders the characters of the registration mark less easily distinguishable to the eye or which prevents or impairs the making of a true photographic image of the plate through the medium of camera and film or any other device.

This is a gaay idea  :w00t: :whistling:

Broke into a right argument last year with a mate who has a Focus ST and he'd put his number plate to one side, looking straight on only half the plate was visible, told him this must be illegal, he then said he'd made enquiries and it's not, so we nip off to a local MOT station to ask and sort this argument out, MOT man said he'd fail the front number plate straight away and then got a book out showing legal placements of plates :winkiss: My mate was right pee'd off as he'd fitted ally plates and curved the front plate and drilled holes in the side of the bumper!! Lets just say he wasn't too happy what he'd done  :wallbash:

Nah lads it looks nice not on the front. I had it done on my old car in my window never got pulled for it by the old bill. I found a nice grill that fits. It's a zunsport grill. It's got no chunky plastic on it and it is one full mesh grill looks wicked

thanks for your opinions though lol :whistling:

Unfortunately it's not opinions but fact.

Not displaying a plate correctly is an offence and just because you don't get pulled it doesn't make it right.

A dilligent Traffic Officer would definitely spot that a mile off, Response Officers may not spot it but should.

I would for sure 😎 (and I do).

I remember the time when my mate got pulled for no front plate.. Officer was adamant it was not fitted to the car while my mate just simply kept answering yes it is.. Lol.

the officer obviously didn't look very hard for it and disappeared quickly when it was pointed out to him! Offset like an Alfa front plate!

But was it curved?

Flat offset is ok as long as fully visible, curved offset is more difficult to justify.
