Hi I've had my focus zetec 1.6tdci ecoboost since April and today the engine malfunction service now message appeared and lost power at 3000 rpm any ideas?

could be anything to be honest, you either need a garage to read any engine trouble codes(dtcs) or buy your self a cheap dtc code reader and read them, then put them on here for us to look at and advise.

and what engine is it, petrol or diesel? no such thing as a tdci ecoboost,

Hi,

Firstly I guess you mean Econetic not Ecoboost?  If its a 1.6 TDCI like mine it will likely be that.  I am no mechanic, if it will not go past 3000 RPM it suggests the car is in "Limp Mode" but like iantt says either take it to a garage or see what fault codes you can provide.

Hope you get it sorted :-)
