squeeking when reversing slow and issue moving off

Featured Replies

Hi all

Ive noticed when i am reversing slowly my car makes a squeaking noise, kind of like scraping a metal gate off concrete noise! Weird!?

Also sometimes on a flat non hill road its like my hill assist kicks in and it wont move for about 2 seconds and i have to properly rev it to get it moving. Any ideas?

Sounds like a binding brake...but shouldn't be in less than a year!

Can you tell if the noise and the hold is on one particular wheel?

sounds like front driver side, hard to tell though.

Odd one

Maybe jack it up and see if the wheel spins freely?

assuming you have alloys take a look at the brake disks on your wheels. see if any of the look corroded/damaged before moving off and compare them after driving for a bit. if they are significantly 'cleaner' after a drive it may be worth getting them checked out.

have you tried turning hill start assist off to see if any difference?

on my fiesta you can do it in the settings on the radio display (can't remember which section of menu it is in)

but I would definitely jack up and spin wheel

on my previous fiesta I had a noise which was a small stone/large piece of grit stuck in the edge of the brake caliper
