Heater/Climate Control Dial Replacements

Featured Replies

Hi,
I bought a set of new heater/climate control dials for my 2007 model Fiesta (Australian XR4 Model or ST150 MK6.5) and would like to replace the old ones, just the dials, does anyone know how to actually remove these? I've seen videos of people pulling these out with vicegrips in various makes and models, including the ford focus, however when I attempt this they do not come out at all and ive tried pulling on them very hard.

If you have already damaged them with grips then you might as well just take a junior hacksaw to them now and put a cut in the plastic so you can pry them off with a straight screwdriver inserted into the cut. I would imagine they are bonded on to a shaft. Thats the only way i could imagine they are fitted if there is no visible grub screw or clip on the back edge and they are not pulling off.

Hopefully your replacements will fit if they are not new original parts.

They are a little scratched but nothing too obvious so I wont be hack-sawing them off anytime soon. Its a shame because those new dials are really nice, was hoping someone has changed them and knows what the trick is to get them out.

Hopefully someone will be able to help you out with a definitive answer from their own experience. Good luck.

Appreciate the input anyhow, if I had a spare unit I would probably try to rip it apart in order to see how its put together. Might try find one at the local wreckers, they shouldnt be too expensive.
