Zetec intermittent starting issue

Featured Replies

Hi everyone. I am sorry to start my membership with a question. I wonder if someone can help. I have an 06 plate Mk6 fiesta 1.4 Zetec petrol Mk6. Just recently 7 or 8 times out of 10 it fires up first time no problems. For the other 2 or 3 times, randomly, when you turn the key to start I just hear a single click and nothing else. Turn key back to start position, try again and most times it fires. I have changed the battery in the key but no difference. I have noticed that when I unlock the car and get in, before I put the key in I notice the immobilser light is still flashing, in a steady way, it's not telling me any codes. But it's like tha whether the car starts or not.

Thanks in advance.

Marcus

I now believe the starter motor is faulty. Hope this helps somebody else one day.

I would get the cars battery checked out as well

Thanks very much. I will mention it when it goes in next week. The battery was changed not all that long ago but it was quite cheap (£45) and the car doesn't get an awful lot of use.So it could well be a factor.
