kingdave
Please excuse my ignorance here - I'm still very much getting used to my new car and can't decide if this is a "feature" or not! So, 2014 Fiesta 1L Ecoboost Titanium X, the power from the cigarette lighters only works when the engine is running. My previous 2007 Fiesta allowed you to plug stuff in and charge it whether the engine is running or not (very useful for charging the phone when nipping into the shops or on a camping trip for example). Is there supposed to be no power when the engine is off, and if that's the case, is there and easy enough way to change this? I don't intend to be running Blackpool Illuminations from the cigarette lighter port, but it would be nice to be able to charge my phone for a couple of hours while I'm camping or generally away from civilisation for a while without resorting to portable battery packs. You could add a socket to the fuse box easily using a mini piggyback fuse holder, a lot of people do this to hardwire dashcams instead of having hanging leads. Pullock
My Fiesta I had was switched live but the Focus we have now is permanent live, but only for about 20 mins after ignition is turned off as Mark has said above.

Yes i have done this and a great idea,i use it for my tracker being on 24/7 but done the live to another socket so if needed i can just pull it out. I have hidden the plug socket on mine being its used for a tracker but one of the best things i have done and read about it on here, very easy to do. Which of the fuses are always live?
