Safe removal of fuse - help!

Featured Replies

To cut a long story short, I believe a third-party radio installed in my 2009 Fiesta may be drawing power from my battery when the vehicle is off. Every few days I have to remove the battery and recharge it for 24 hours. Eventually it drains again. The car is going to the garage next month for repair but until then, is it safe to remove the fuse for the radio from it's socket in the glove compartment and leave the socket empty until the car is fixed?

Yes i should think so just means no radio

May be that you need to swap the permanent and ignition feed wires on the original radio (quadlock) connector block.
When buying adaptor looms it's common for a store/seller to say the quadlock fits Ford and Vauxhall alike however the wire layout is not identical.

You have to be careful with Ford fuses.   I once blew the fuse of my cigarette lighter in an 06 Fiesta and found the accelerator pedal no longer worked.

remove fuse. connect ammeter to the fuse terminals and see if current is travelling there.  A multimeter (volts/amps/resistance) is a very handy thing to own, everyone should have one
